Tourism Development

Regional Development Australia, local councils, industry and tourism operators have come together to establish the Murraylands Tourism Partnership (MTP) to encourage an integrated and united approach to tourism in the region. The MTP has delivered a significant boost for tourism by funding a full time role dedicated to the development and marketing of tourism in the Murraylands region.

Candace Torres, Tourism Development Manager- Murraylands commenced Monday 31 October 2011 and is based in the Regional Development Australia Murraylands & Riverland office at Murray Bridge.

The Murraylands Tourism Partnership will support Ms Torres in adopting a multi-faceted approach to growing tourism by working with tourism operators to encourage growth, development and expansion of tourism by providing assistance to new business, support for event promotion and facilitating product development and packaging within the region.

The MTP membership boasts an array of skills, experience and knowledge of the region and tourism industry.

A review of the Murraylands Integrated Regional Strategic Tourism plan 2009 – 2013 will be the initial priority to ensure a relevant and simple action plan can be developed that have the support of all key stakeholders.
