This is the fourth Growth Survey that has been undertaken by the Murraylands Regional Development Board (MRDB) since 1998 with funding provided by the State Government of South Australia through its SA Works in the Regions program.

All four surveys forecast growth over a three year period based upon the staffing expectations of Murraylands’ organisations and identify potential barriers to that growth.  The previous reports, are still available on this page and can also be downloaded, but it is recommended that the current report be downloaded for current consultation.

Update: The MRDB has once again commissioned Bill Clifford to undertake the Jobs Growth Investment Survey. The current report is an update of the previous report projecting growth from 2009 to 2011. This new report will replace the current 2009 report which is due to expire at the end of December 2009.

In November 2009, information was gathered for the update survey (mostly by phone) on 116 organisations and planned projects, 93 of which had been included in the 2008 Survey. Respondents were asked to revise their estimates of new positions and capital investment for the same period. Most also made comment regarding their future prospects. These data were used to revise the findings made in 2008 with minor adjustments in the light of anecdotal and other evidence. Whenever more than one interpretation of the data was possible, the more cautious alternative was taken.

As part of the Murraylands Regional Development Board's commitment to the region, we have commissioned a consultant Bill Cllifford to review the growth prospects for the Murraylands region up to 2011.

Industries within the Murraylands region have again been consulted and the previous version released in 2007, has been updated to reflect the current regional situation.

The attached report has just been updated to reflect the recent announcement of the two year delay for the development of the correctional facility in Mobilong.

As a result of the drought, parts of the Murraylands have been declared under Exceptional Circumstances.  Because of this, the MRDB commissioned a consultant Bill Clifford, to provide an updated snapshot of the region relating to jobs & growth prospects for the Murraylands.

After industry consultation, the previous version released in June 2006, has been updated to reflect the current regional situation.
