Fast Facts - Export & Food
The gross food revenue from food industry within the Murraylands is worth $937m (2005-2006) as reported by the PIRSA Regional ScoreCard.
Regional ScoreCard information assists in developing an understanding of the role the food industry plays in our regional economies. The information can also help identify existing and emerging regional production capabilities and opportunities.
Gross Food Revenue takes into account the value of farm production, food value-adding, processing, packing and distribution, as well as food service and retail sales.
Food exports out of the Murraylands region include many value-added products such as beef, lamb, pork, wheat & barley, but also chilled carcasses of raw meat to the select markets of Singapore.
Manufacturing and Engineering companies also export product out of Australia including components for the sheep hand shearing piece and feed bins for the intensive livestock industry.
