Coorong District Council

“The Coorong District Council encompasses quite different ecologies, from River Murray cliffs and floodplain, to the world-recognised Coorong waterway, and dryland farming. The unique environment is attracting residential developers, and new waterside housing estates will change the face, and economic base, of river-based towns.  Murray Bridge’s economic growth is generating a need for local labour, which is expected to create strong demand for affordable accommodation in the surrounding areas. The location of the council on the main Adelaide-Melbourne rail and road routes creates opportunities for logistics management and storage and interchange facilities for bulk goods. The proximity to Adelaide, location at the end of the South Eastern Freeway, and good access to gas supplies, may present opportunities to create an industrial precinct aimed at industries that are restricted in urban environments, such as waste management, foundries and other heavy industry, however significant infrastructure investment will be needed to make these ideas viable”.
