Board Member Profiles
Neil Martinson (Chairperson)

Neil has a long history of employment in SA Local Government and is currently the Director of Environmental Services at Loxton Waikerie District Council. He is Mayor of the Renmark Paringa Council and has been a member of numerous boards involved in aspects of regional development.
Neil has lived in the Riverland for almost 30 years and has been active in sporting associations, including football, tennis and basketball.
Graeme Godden (Deputy Chairperson)

Sam has been a broadacre farmer in the Lameroo area for over fifty years and is part owner of the lease of the Lameroo Hotel.
Sam spent thirteen years as a councilor including five as the chairman of the Lameroo District Council.
On retiring from council Sam became a member of the Murraylands Regional Development Board with twelve of those as Chairman. He is a life member of APEX and was an active member of many local organisations and committees including School Council, Kindergarten, CFS and various sporting clubs. Today Sam lives in the Murray Bridge Area.
Allan Arbon

Allan lives in Murray Bridge and spent 42 years farming in the Murraylands area. Allan is the current Mayor of the Rural City of Murray Bridge, a member of the Murray Bridge Friendship Force, delegate to the Murray and Mallee Local Government Association, representative for the Rural City of Murray Bridge with the Provincial Cities Association and Chair of Ngarrindjeri Council working party.
Allan has served as an Elected Member in Local Government for almost 31 years and has been involved with many hospital boards and school councils, and is the former Mayor of Karoonda East Murray.
David Beaton

David was employed with the Commonwealth Government from 1979 -1985.
David has over twenty years experience as a CEO in Local Government in three different regions of South Australia and NSW. David was director of Siena Governance Consulting from 2003-2007 consulting to Local Government and not for profit organisations in strategic planning, governance, audits and efficiency and effectiveness reviews.
In 2008 he commenced his current role as Chief Executive Officer with the Berri Barmera Council.
Trevor Bennett (Ministerial Representative)

Regional Manager, Murray and Mallee
Trevor joined the Board in June 2007 as the Regional Manager, Murray and Mallee in an ex-officio capacity, providing support and input from a South Australian Government perspective. Prior to his appointment he was the Regional Migration Officer for the Murraylands and Riverland regions. Trevor’s background includes experience in broad acre agriculture, hospitality management, community service management and qualifications in Information Technology.
Dave Burgess

David and his wife reopened the Walker Flat General Store in 1985 and over 20 years established a service centre to include a Liquor Store and fuel outlet for the locals and tourist. They restored an 1886 cottage on the property, Lake Bywater Cottage, and now have it opened for a Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
David has served since 2004 as a member of the Mid – Murray Council, and has been involved with the Mid - Murray Development Assessment Panel and is now a member of the Mannum Dock Museum, Murraylands Tourism Partnership, Regional Development Board and his local progress association.
David believes the region has enormous growth potential and is keen to be a part of a team to progress the economic and social potential.
Annette Cameron

Annette is the Chairperson of the Torrens Valley Country Education Fund which she established in 2007. Annette has had an extensive nursing career as a registered nurse & midwife particularly in rural communities, gaining experiences with indigenous people
She is actively involved in running the family property which over the last 20 years has been involved in Landcare practices. Annette has run various off farm business such as catering and Red Gum Furniture. Annette states her greatest achievements as raising & nurturing her 4 boys.
Kate Daniels

Kate recently moved to the Murray Mallee area and is currently employed in the community services industry. Kate is particularly interested in the role of social inclusion, economic growth and the potential this brings. Kate enjoys representing & communicating for those unable to do for themselves & has experience in project management, business & working within community and volunteer groups.
Matthew Lewis

Matt is a farmer in the Wanbi district producing Wheat, Barley and Cereal Rye and has recently developed a Pomegranate Orchard. Matt’s skills are his ability to identify and develop opportunities, with a strong focus on new techniques. Matt is also secretary of the Wambi Progress Association.
Julie Robertson

Julie was born in Broken Hill, with a career spanning 20 years in various leadership and training positions. Julie has worked in many SA country locations including Eyre Peninsular, Mid/Far Northern Regions and Riverland area. Julie is a successful business operator and consultant in roles requiring people development, marketing initiatives, and quality control.
Julie is highly regarded as having unerring belief in people, positive energy and a passion for helping others achieve their goals. Julie is currently employed with Westpac as the local Bank Manager in the Riverland, and lives in Renmark with partner Ashley and son Darcy.
Tony Sharley

Tony’s vision is a sustainable River Murray system with competitive rural industry and a celebrated natural environment. He has tertiary qualification in science and natural resource management and is a 2009 graduate of the Leadership Institute of SA. He has worked on national & international water resource initiatives in State & Federal Government and as manager of Banrock Station. Tony is the Principal of Flow On Business specializing in eco-tourism development, and he resides at Murtho near Renmark.
Philip Sims

Phil is a fruit grower in Renmark growing a broad range of fruit. Phil was the Chair of the Riverland Development Corporation and the Chair of The Riverland Horticultural Council for many years. Phil also served on the board of the Riverland Fruit Corp and a board member of the Australian Dried Fruit Association. Phil is a life member of the Renmark Apex Club.
Kym Webber

As a business owner and valued community member of Waikerie Kym believes the region has untapped potential for growth and promotion primarily creating a more sustainable future for our greatest assets, our children.
Kym has a strong belief that the Riverland and Murraylands will benefit from a greater more inclusive collusion of Government Departments through the RDA framework and is looking forward to contributing to the board with pride and passion as a member of Regional South Australia.
Kym is the Director of Waikerie Cash Pty Ltd, a Councilor with the District of Loxton Waikerie & Member of South Australian Business Development Council.
